class descriptions

HAPPY FEET | Led by Belle Rangel
Dive into artistry and be introduced to the fundamentals of theatre by using your body, voice and imagination!  Celebrate being you by building confidence, increasing concentration, and improving cooperation!  This class will introduce stage and acting terminology; characterization and scene work both scripted and improvised; and the fundamentals of music and design by interacting with instruments, costumes, lights and other tactile objects used in creating theatre.  A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of class.

CHALK ART | Led by Brittney Thompson
Get your hands dirty and let the sidewalk become your gallery as you create with chalk! Acquire the skills it takes to draw colorful images, control the medium (sharp edges or blended ones) and create natural textures with believable shadows and highlights. Weather permitting, the classes will primarily be outdoors, but will be moved indoors as needed.

HEROES & VILLAINS | Led by Kimberly Faith Hickman
The Joker. Regina George. Harley Quinn. Dead Pool. Wonder Woman. Harry Potter.  Stories are full of heroes and villains - and now's your chance to play them all! Explore their motivations, moral dilemmas, and the gray areas that make them so compelling. In this acting class, students will dive into the complex world of heroic deeds and nefarious schemes.

SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT | Led by Abby Custer
Get your flannel and Doc Martens ready! This music class covers the 90's grunge era - Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Cranberries, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sleater-Kinney and more!  Embrace your inner misfit and explore the angst-ridden lyrics, distorted guitar riffs and stripped-down aesthetic of a musical rebellion. 

SHAKESPEARE IS COOL! | Led by Kimberly Faith Hickman
Act out scenes of epic adventure from one of the OG playwrights, William Shakespeare! Featuring ghosts, kings, queens and magical beings - Shakespeare's language might sound fancy, but you will learn how to crack the Elizabethan code! Shakespeare rocks!
